The SFU LEARNING EXPERIENCE

Economics the Saint Francis Way

In our Economics program, you’ll use economic theory and applied analytical methods to critically evaluate decisions by market agents. For example:

  • How do changes in price affect consumers’ willingness to buy and producers’ willingness to sell?
  • How does the government impact the economy through fiscal policy?
  • What are the impacts of tariffs and trade policy on the economy?

Society of Economic Analysis (SEA)

Students are encouraged to participate in the Society of Economic Analysis (SEA). The SEA provides students with the opportunity to compete in a national competition known as the College Federal Reserve Challenge as well as other regional competitions. The club also works on research projects, prepares editorials in local newspapers, organizes events to increase economic literacy on campus, and has taken trips to the New York stock exchange and the IMF in Washington, D.C. Select students have also participated in both undergraduate and professional research conferences.
