  • Our program in mathematics embodies both views of mathematics: one, as the study of abstract structures and hence independent of the physical world; the other, as the cornerstone of all scientific inquiry.

    Program Highlights:

    • Program offers minors in applied mathematics and actuarial science and a concentration in secondary education.
    • Mathematics majors can easily add double majors or minors in other disciplines to enhance their degrees and set themselves apart in the job market.
    • Small, engaging classes are taught by faculty who are conducting dynamic mathematical research in both applied and theoretical research, yet view teaching as their central focus.
    • Undergraduate students work side-by-side with faculty members on research projects.
    • Participation in professional societies and conferences, SFU’s Pie on Pi Day, the Pennsylvania Statistics Poster Competition, SFU’s Science Day, the MECS club, and Honor societies are just a few of the opportunities that await our students.
