Biography

Dr. Don Walkovich is the Dean of the School of Health Sciences and Education at Saint Francis University, overseeing the following academic programs (Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing Leadership/Education, Master of Nursing in Family Nurse Practitioner, Master of Occupational Therapy, Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Physician Assistant Sciences, Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology, Bachelor and Master of Science in Public Health, Master of Medical Science, Master of Health Science, Bachelor of Psychology, Bachelor and Master of Education, Bachelor of Social Work, and Minor of American Sign Language) and the DiSepio Institute for Rural Health and Wellness (Conference Center, Human Performance Lab, Fitness Center, Outpatient Physical and Occupational Therapy Rehabilitation Clinic, MyHealth Saint Francis (Student Health Center), ProBono Physical Therapy Student Practice, and Athletic Training). He has been employed at the University for 25+ years, was the Founding Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University, and maintains faculty rank of Full Professor.

 

Don has worked in the field of Occupational Therapy for 40+ years and has a wide variety of clinical and teaching experiences. In addition to teaching at the University, Don maintains per-diem clinical practice with Camco Physical and Occupational Therapy, LLC in Johnstown, PA.

 

Professionally, Don is a member of the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association. He is also the past President of the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association and past President of the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Political Action Committee. Don has presented at a variety of national and state conferences, and has provided consultative services to new and established occupational therapy programs across the country.

 

Don resides in Johnstown, PA with his wife, Barbara, who is also an occupational therapist. They are the parents of 3 grown children, 4 granddaughters and one grandson.
