    About Mrs. Bonnie Resinski

    • BA: Secondary Comprehensive English, Cabrini College ( now University), Radnor PA Class of 1966

    • MA:  Reading Specialist, Indiana University of PA, 1994

Bonnie M. Resinski, sometimes listed as Bonnie Marie Lucas, was born in Amarillo, Texas .

She  arrived in Loretto on  August 26, 1967 along with her husband,  Ken Resinski, who  was hired to start academic theatre classes and productions for the newly implemented Fine Arts Department.

She describes those early days: "When we started at SFC there were no places other than NYC or  Philadelphia for costume rental. However, since girls at SFC were not allowed to wear pants to class, girls knew how to sew.  There was one sewer (with sewing machine) in every third room in the girls’ dorms. Roaring River Mills in Altoona was a ready, inexpensive source of all kinds of fabric.

I started designing and shepherding the girls to make all the costumes we needed. The students sewed in the dorm, and at our house where they also interacted with our three small children.  Because our relatives were in other states, the kids considered the students their 'aunts and uncles'  When clothing rules were changed, and the students no longer had sewing skills beyond 7th Grade Home Ec classes, we set up the costume workroom in JFK dressing rooms.  There I was able to coach students (male and female) in skills to create whatever Ken asked as director, and I designed. Over the 46 years of Ken’s tenure at SFC/SFU the students and I made costumes for 235 productions."
