The William N. Campbell Poppy Project is an outreach event where students create artwork that must include a poppy. The red poppy is a nationally recognized symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans since World War I to honor those who served and died for our country in all wars.
Artwork will be on display in the Connors Family Fine Arts Center and guests can vote for their favorite work of art. The Saint Benedict VFW Post 7783 sponsors the poppies and awards in memory of William N. Campbell, Vietnam Veteran, former VFW Quartermaster, and Board Member. The SFU School of STEAM is sponsoring the People's Choice Award. Awards will be announced at 4:00 PM. Participating High Schools are: Altoona Area High School, Bishop Guilfoyle, Greensburg Central Catholic, Penn Cambria High School, Forest Hills Junior Senior High School and Evelyn Warner, of Cambria Heights High School. This event is free and open to the public.
