Applied mathematics is a broad field that has grown to include a wide variety of subjects: statistics, biomathematics, cryptography, scientific computation, mathematical modeling, economics, financial mathematics, operations research and engineering.
Students choosing applied mathematics concentration will take the core mathematics courses and elect the other courses from one of the following fields: engineering, computer science, physics, chemistry, biology, bioinformatics or others.
While it is common for students in the program to go on to graduate school, many graduating seniors will find employment directly.
