Discounts/Scholarships:
Ask us about our affordability initiatives, including scholarships/discounts for REAL Institute member schools!
Ed.D. students are charged a standard tuition rate of $1,000 per credit, and Ed.D. tuition is not ordinarily eligible for discounts. When a REAL-affiliated Ed.D. student enrolls in both Ed.D. and eligible Graduate Education (i.e., M.Ed.) courses during the same semester, a 15% tuition discount will apply to all courses taken that semester only. The discount does not apply during semesters in which the student is enrolled exclusively in Ed.D. coursework.

Out-of-State Students and Educator Certification
Saint Francis University welcomes students from outside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania into its education programs. However, students should be aware that the University’s educator preparation programs are designed to meet the requirements established by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and prepare candidates for Pennsylvania state certification.
Candidates who reside outside of Pennsylvania or who intend to complete their student teaching and/or pursue educator certification in another state are responsible for understanding the certification requirements of the state in which they intend to seek employment or complete their clinical experience. Admission to a Saint Francis University education program does not guarantee eligibility for educator certification in another state.
Prior to beginning student teaching, an out-of-state candidate must work with the University to initiate the appropriate out-of-state waiver process through the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). The waiver is required when the candidate seeks to complete the student teaching/clinical experience outside of Pennsylvania. The approval of an out-of-state waiver is not guaranteed. Waivers are reviewed and granted solely by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Saint Francis University does not have the authority to approve or guarantee an out-of-state waiver.
Students considering enrollment from outside Pennsylvania are strongly encouraged to contact the University’s Graduate Education (could include DPS) program prior to enrollment to discuss their individual circumstances and to review the educator certification requirements of the state in which they intend to seek certification and employment. Additional requirements, documentation, or restrictions may apply based on the candidate’s intended state of certification.
By enrolling in an education program at Saint Francis University, candidates acknowledge that the University’s programs are designed to prepare educators for Pennsylvania certification and that certification, clinical placement, and waiver requirements in another state are subject to the policies and decisions of the applicable state education agency.
