Saint Francis University and Valley Forge Military College Sign Articulation Agreement

Marie Young, University Communications & Marketing | 02/18/2026

Saint Francis University has entered into a new articulation agreement with Valley Forge Military College (VFMC) that establishes a clear and efficient pathway for students—especially those earning ROTC scholarships—to complete their bachelor’s degrees at Saint Francis.

Under the agreement finalized on Feb. 4, 2026, students who complete an associate degree at VFMC and earn an ROTC scholarship may transfer to Saint Francis with core coursework considered complete, with the exception of theology. This structure allows students to focus immediately on their major upon transfer and complete their bachelor’s degrees in as little as two additional years. The pathway aligns particularly well with high-demand academic areas, including engineering, criminal justice, cybersecurity, business administration, and nursing.

In addition to the academic benefits, ROTC scholarship recipients transferring under this agreement will receive Saint Francis University’s room and board scholarship—a rare benefit that reflects the University’s strong commitment to supporting military service and future leaders.

Students from VFMC who are not on ROTC scholarships are also granted admission under the articulation agreement and are expected to be strong additions to the Saint Francis campus community, contributing leadership, discipline, and academic focus.

The partnership reflects the shared values of both institutions in fostering leadership, service, and academic excellence while expanding access and opportunity for military-affiliated students.

"We are honored to work with Valley Forge Military College, and I believe Saint Francis provides an academic and leadership environment that complements their cadets’ training and prepares them for distinguished service as Army officers," said Dr. Arthur Remillard, Dean of the School of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics at SFU.

"This partnership is the foundation of a great pathway for our cadets to transfer to an excellent school that matches the individual attention they receive at VFMC and achieve their goals through a degree at Saint Francis," shared VFMC Provost Dr. Robert Smith.

The details of this agreement are available on the University’s Articulation Agreements web page.

About the ROTC Program at Saint Francis University

Saint Francis University proudly participates in the U.S. Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC). ROTC at SFU is more than military preparation—it’s a leadership development experience that integrates military science coursework with academic majors of choice. The ROTC program is offered through a partnership with the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). This collaborative program allows SFU students to train to become commissioned officers in the United States Army while completing their undergraduate degrees. ROTC classes and physical training take place on the SFU campus, and leadership labs occur at IUP, with transportation support provided for students.
