Saint Francis University celebrated the first graduating class of its Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Certificate Program, with five students earning their General, Airframe, and Powerplant certificates and qualifying to take final FAA examinations. The milestone highlights the continued growth of SFU’s aviation programs and workforce-focused education initiatives.

Saint Francis University’s Nearspace Ballooning Program partnered with Altoona Area High School students to launch a high-altitude research balloon mission near Spring Church, Pennsylvania. Supported by the FirstEnergy Foundation, the project gave students hands-on experience in science, engineering, launch operations, and payload recovery.

Saint Francis University presents the Dr. John Powers Outstanding Educator Award to deserving elementary or secondary teachers or administrators each spring. This year, the university presented the award to five stand-out educators during a special ceremony on April 29, 2026.

Kaylin Rose, an Exercise Physiology, 3+3 PT major from Cochranton, PA, and Matthew Hall, a Business Analytics major from New Enterprise, PA, were named Mr. and Ms. Frankie, Saint Francis University’s highest honor for graduating students.
