SFU receives Top 10 Military Friendly School ranking

02/16/2020

For the tenth year, Saint Francis University has been named a “Military Friendly School” by VIQTORY.

This year, the university earned the organization’s "Top 10 School" Award, which is the highest award a school can earn.

"I am proud to be a part of a school that has shown support to our military. This is an honor that SFU should be proud of and continue to work towards the award," said Jon D. Walker, Veteran Support Specialist at SFU.

He continued, "SFU has doubled its ROTC program, has a very strong partnership with the US Navy and the Physician Assistant Science department, along with being one of two schools in the country awarded a grant to assist Veterans in transitioning to the work force through programs requiring occupational licenses. Our faculty and staff fully support our military and it shows every day!"

The university's service-focused mission as well as online programming through Francis Worldwide couples well with the duties as active duty or reservist men and women. SFU also welcomes veterans who have honorably served and seek to successfully transition into the classroom where they can share their experiences with fellow students.

How is a school designated “Military Friendly”?

The Military Friendly ® Schools list is created each year based on extensive research using public data sources for more than 8,800 schools nationwide, input from student veterans, and responses to the proprietary, data-driven Military Friendly® Schools survey from participating institutions.

Methodology, criteria, and weightings were determined by VIQTORY with input from the Military Friendly ® Advisory Council of independent leaders in the higher education and military recruitment community. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for Student Retention, Graduation, Job Placement, Loan Repayment, persistence (Degree Advancement or Transfer) and Loan Default Rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.

The full Military Friendly® Schools list will be published in G.I. Jobs magazine. The list can also be found at militaryfriendly.com.
