Biography
Br. Marius professed solemn vows as a Franciscan Friar of the Third Order Regular of Saint Francis of Assisi of Penance in July, 2018 and has been assigned to Saint Francis University since 2017. With a master's degree from the University of Maryland, College Park in Aerospace Engineering, he serves as an Engineering Instructor in the University's engineering programs. He has a strong interest in airplanes, including a private pilot license in gliders, and also aids the University's aviation programs by advising students and guiding program development. Outside of the classroom, he has advised several undergraduate engineering and research projects, including: the development of particle tracking velocimetry systems based on UAS-derived imagery, development of an in-flight air data sampler with short-range wireless communication capabilities for use on weather balloons, a new latex balloon altitude control device, MOROI (Modular Ontology for Release, Operation, and Inflation), and other projects. He is the advisor for the SFU Nearspace Ballooning Project, which has developed a variety of payloads for and flown weather balloons in support of NASA-sponsored missions since its inception in 2023.
