History of The March
In 1973,
Roe v. Wade, a landmark decision made by the United States Supreme Court, overrode many state and federal restrictions on abortion in the United States. Since that time there have been roughly 1.21 million abortions per year, or roughly 3,300 abortions per day.
Each year on the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, hundreds of thousands of pro-lifers, from across the United States, gather in Washington D.C. to stand up for the unborn, marching through the nation’s capital at the annual
March for Life.
In order to promote the pro-life message, Saint Francis University holds its own March on the Mountain annually for those who cannot attend the national rally. Saint Francis students, faculty and staff, as well as members of the local community gather on the campus mall to proclaim the sanctity of all human life, uniting their prayers with those of the hundreds of thousands of other pro-life advocates from across the United States.
The annual March on the Mountain is sponsored by
Campus Ministry and the Knights of Columbus Council #8222.
