2020 March on the Mountain Event

Join the Saint Francis University community as we gather for our 7th Annual March on the Mountain on Wednesday, January 22nd.  We gather to unite our prayers and proclaim the sanctity of human life with Pro-Life advocates around the country on the 47th Anniversary of Roe v Wade.

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be recited prior to the March in the Immaculate Conception Chapel, located on the Loretto campus, beginning at 10:30 a.m.  This will be followed by several guest speakers.  The March itself will begin with a short prayer at 11:00 a.m. in front of the Chapel.  The walk will then commence around the mall in the center of campus and will conclude at approximately 11:55 a.m. for those that wish to attend the 12:00 p.m. Mass.  Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be held immediately following the Mass until 4:00 p.m.

If you can join us for the entire walk or for only 5 – 10 minutes come out and show your support.

Some signs will be provided but feel free to bring your own.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact Campus Ministry department at Saint Francis University @ 814-472-3172.

History of The March

In 1973, Roe v. Wade, a landmark decision made by the United States Supreme Court, overrode many state and federal restrictions on abortion in the United States. Since that time there have been roughly 1.21 million abortions per year, or roughly 3,300 abortions per day.

Each year on the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, hundreds of thousands of pro-lifers, from across the United States, gather in Washington D.C. to stand up for the unborn, marching through the nation’s capital at the annual March for Life.

In order to promote the pro-life message, Saint Francis University holds its own March on the Mountain annually for those who cannot attend the national rally. Saint Francis students, faculty and staff, as well as members of the local community gather on the campus mall to proclaim the sanctity of all human life, uniting their prayers with those of the hundreds of thousands of other pro-life advocates from across the United States.

The annual March on the Mountain is sponsored by Campus Ministry and the Knights of Columbus Council #8222.
