Environmental Engineering Department receives generous lab donation from Gwin Dobson and Foreman

The Environmental Engineering Department at Saint Francis University is pleased to thank Gwin Dobson & Foreman Consulting Engineers of Altoona, Pennsylvania for their generous donation of an Armfield hydraulic flume. The flume is 2.5 meters long (center) and comes with a large hydraulic workbench with pump (right). This flume will be of great teaching and research value in the department. It will provide a tool for courses such as Hydraulics & Hydrology and Fluid Mechanics in addition to student research and real class projects. Senior strategic communications major and pre-law minor Amanda Schiavo presented some of her research at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) on April 7 at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. Schiavo presented findings from a study she completed in her Communications Theory and Research course during the 2015 fall semester at Saint Francis. ENACTUS Wins Regional Competition 2016

The Saint Francis University chapter of ENACTUS won the title “Regional Champions” in the ENACTUS Regional Competition held in Washington, D.C. on March 29. Competing against 50 other colleges and universities from the Northeast Region, the ENACTUS team presented the results of educational outreach projects which were completed during the academic year to a panel of 12 business professionals. Emily was a political science major, honor's program student, and a member of the Saint Francis Women’s Lacrosse Team. Emily accomplished a lot while at Saint Francis: a member of the Gamma Sigma Sigma National Sorority; Vice-President of Finance for the Inter-Sorority Council; Treasurer of the Class of 2013 three years in a row; an intern twice, once in business and once in legal affairs; a study abroad student in Germany; and the recipient of the Richard Dorsey Muller Memorial Scholarship Senior Award
