Br. Shamus McGrenra to Ride 335 Miles for 15th Annual Dorothy Day Outreach Center  Fundraiser—Milestone $1 Million Goal in Sight

Saint Francis University is proud to announce the 15th Annual  Charity Bike Ride led by Br. Shamus McGrenra, a 78-year-old stage-4 cancer survivor and beloved member of the campus community. This fall, Br. Shamus will once again embark on an inspiring cycling journey to benefit the Dorothy Day Outreach Center—a milestone year that could push total fundraising efforts past the $1 million mark.

The 2025 ride, set to begin in early October, will span from western Pennsylvania to the nation’s capital. Br. Shamus’s route will take him from Ohiopyle, PA; Meyersdale, PA;  Cumberland, MD; Leesburg, VA; and ultimately Washington, D.C. The path traces more than just miles—it charts a journey of faith, purpose, and compassionate outreach.

Since its inception, the annual charity ride has supported the Dorothy Day Outreach Center in its mission to serve the economically disadvantaged in the local community. Over the past 14  years, Br. Shamus’s dedication and grit have inspired hundreds of donors and community members to rally around the cause.

Supporters are encouraged to follow Br. Shamus’s progress on the ride and donate online.  More details, including route updates and donation links, will be available at  Francis.edu/brother-shamus-charity-ride.
