Biography
- RN for 27 years- nursing focus has been in medical-surgical nursing, pediatrics, school health, and community health. Continue to work per diem as Utilization Review Nurse/RN Case Manager
- Worked as a school nurse for 12 years, during this time obtained my MSN and was published in the NASN School Nurse Journal, "Are Body Mass Screening Programs in Schools Enough? Body Mass Index Notification, Follow-Up, and School Nurse Role"
- After school nursing came to St. Francis University as a nursing instructor where I became passionate about giving students experiences with simulation to help create critical thinking skills
- Guest lecture each fall since 2019 for EDUC 205, Introduction to Special Education Lab here at SFU
- Taught at Penn State Altoona where I integrated the Community Action Poverty Simulation into the curriculum. In 2023 was awarded the Barbara Long-Beck Excellence Award which honors and recognizes an outstanding achievement by a faculty member of Penn State Altoona who represent the field of nursing
- Briefly left teaching to gain leadership experience while finishing my DNP that was focused on leadership and became the Director of Private Duty Nursing for home health
- Member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, National Association of School Nurses, Pennsylvania Association of School Nurses and Practitioners, and National League for Nursing
