Biography
Before transitioning to academia, Dr. Forst gained extensive clinical experience as a registered nurse at Conemaugh Hospital, where she worked in the telemetry unit, the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, and in Home Health. Upon joining Saint Francis University as a full-time nursing and clinical instructor, she played a key role in assisting with the development and instruction of the university’s first NCLEX preparation course. Through her efforts and the collaborative support of the nursing department, the program achieved a 100% first-time NCLEX pass rate for six consecutive years and has consistently maintained a pass rate of over 95%.
Dr. Forst has taught at Saint Francis University since 2009. She was the the BSN Program Director from 2017 to 2025 and is currently the Nursing Department Chairperson. Kim has taught all levels of nursing courses including Medical Surgical Nursing, as well as teaching a General Education CORE course on health care literacy.
Dr. Forst is married with two children and two grandchildren. In her leisure time, she enjoys reading, playing the piano, and watching her two grandsons.
