Chemistry Degrees Options

Have you ever experimented with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy? How about gas chromatography? Chemistry is a very hands-on field. At Saint Francis, we provide you with lab experience, research opportunities and internships that give you hands-on experience at the undergraduate-level.

  • Majors

    Chemistry, Bachelor of Science (ACS certified)

    • This comprehensive foundation in chemistry is a great degree path if you are interested in pursuing graduate school or who want to enter industry positions in chemistry right after graduation.

     Chemistry , Bachelor of Arts

     Biochemistry, Bachelor of Science (ACS certified)

    • This program is offered jointly through the Biology and Chemistry departments. Biochemists study the chemical processes that occur in living cells as well as the structure and function of proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and nucleic acids.

      Environmental Chemistry Concentration (B.S. in Chemistry)

      Forensics Concentration (B.S. in Chemistry)

      • This specialization in forensic chemistry will equip you for a career of laboratory work related to criminal justice. A forensic chemist focuses on analysis of materials from crime scenes.

      Nanotechnology Concentration (B.S. in Chemistry)

      Pre-medicine Concentration (B.S. in Chemistry)

      • This concentration allows you to prepare for professional schools in medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, chiropractic, optometry, and veterinary fields.

      Pre-pharmacy Concentration (B.S. in Chemistry)

      • Pre-pharmacy students enrolled at Saint Francis spend 3 or 4  years at SFU prior to transferring to pharmacy school at Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy or Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Students receive their Saint Francis degree after they complete their first year of pharmacy school.  Students may also choose to apply to other pharmacy schools.
