Phi Lambda Psi Sorority is a locally-governed leadership and academic sorority. Founded in 1978 and re-founded in 2008, Phi Lambda Psi is the second-oldest sorority at Saint Francis University. Perceiving a national and campus-wide lack of social sororities that also sponsored strong morals and values, the founders of Phi Lambda Psi set out to create the type of organization that they were looking for. These founding sisters crafted Phi Lambda Psi Sorority to be a haven for strong, independent, unique women. The vision of Phi Lambda Psi has always been to bolster an accepting, supportive community that encourages creativity, individuality, and, most importantly, friendships that will last a lifetime.
The fundamental purpose of Phi Lambda Psi is to build trust, belonging and friendship among all college peers, especially women, while fostering the qualities of leadership and scholarship in all members. The “Lammies” support autism awareness by putting on several events throughout the year and working with Dreams Go On, a therapeutic horseback riding camp for individuals with special needs. Phi Lambda Psi is committed to developing and empowering the next generation of women leaders, as evidenced in their motto: “Elegance through Leadership.”
