EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION GRANT COMPETITION: FY 2026-2027 Guidelines
Very Rev. Malachi Van Tassell, T.O.R., Ph.D., is now accepting proposals for the FY 2026-2027 Excellence in Education endowment grant. The endowment was created to fund innovative academic and other educational projects that contribute to raising the profile of the University. Grants of up to $1000 will be awarded.
Projects that were initially funded in FY 2025-2026 will be eligible for one additional round of funding in 2026-2027; however, the applicant must indicate progress from the first grant and demonstrate the need for and impact of the additional funds.
Application Process
1. Proposals must be five pages or less. Please include the following information:
• A project description (with goals and measurable objectives) stating its purpose and benefit to the University.
• A budget, budget justification, project timetable, and a description of your evaluation/assessment plan.
• An endorsement cover letter from the department chairperson or supervisor (required).
2. Applicants may request up to $1000 in grant funds.
3. Faculty and staff may submit more than one proposal. The deadline is Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
4. One copy of the proposal should be sent to: Robert Young, 309 Raymond Hall (or emailed to ryoung@francis.edu)
Review Process
A committee appointed by the President will review and score the proposals. Successful applicants will be notified by May 4, 2026, and the grant funds will be available at the start of the new fiscal year (July 1). Instructions for accessing the funding will be provided to applicants at the time of award notification.
Final Report Requirement
Faculty and staff members who receive an Excellence in Education Award must submit a one-page final report to the Grants and Foundations office the month following the end of the project. The report is to include a review of the project, description of the results (including any departure from the original proposal) and the budget.
If applicants have any questions, please contact Robert Young at (814) 472-3119.
