SFU Earns MSCHE Reaccreditation
Saint Francis University is pleased to share that the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) has officially reaffirmed the University’s accreditation, following the Commission’s meeting on June 26, 2025. This important milestone reflects our ongoing dedication to academic excellence, student success, and institutional integrity.
The reaccreditation affirms that Saint Francis meets the rigorous standards set by MSCHE in key areas, including educational quality, organizational stability, and financial health, positioning the University to serve generations of learners well into the future. The next comprehensive self-study and evaluation visit is scheduled for the 2032-2033 academic year.

A Testament to Academic Quality and Mission
“Accreditation is a rigorous process that reflects the quality and integrity of our academic programs and support services,” said Father Malachi Van Tassell, T.O.R., Ph.D., President of Saint Francis University. “We are grateful to the Middle States Commission and the visiting evaluation team for their thorough review and constructive feedback. Most importantly, we recognize and thank the entire campus community—faculty, staff, and students—for their dedication and tireless efforts during this process.”
MSCHE accreditation provides critical assurance to students, families, and the public that Saint Francis upholds the highest standards of academic and institutional performance. The reaffirmation followed a comprehensive self-study and on-site evaluation, during which peer evaluators highlighted the University’s mission-centered focus, engaged leadership, and culture of continuous improvement.
Looking Ahead with Purpose
In addition to the reaffirmation, the visiting MSCHE team offered valuable collegial advice and recommendations to further enhance the University’s academic programs, student services, and operational practices. These insights will help guide ongoing efforts to strengthen the Saint Francis experience for all.
“While we celebrate this milestone, we also recognize that accreditation is not an endpoint but a call to continuous improvement,” said Dr. Michael McGinnis, Vice President for Academic Affairs. “This reaffirmation not only honors our legacy—it energizes our future. We remain deeply committed to providing a secure, enriching, and mission-driven academic environment for all.”
