Chynna Bozeman Named Head Coach of Saint Francis Women’s Basketball

“I’m honored and beyond excited to be named head coach at Saint Francis,” Bozeman said. “I’m  grateful for the belief this administration has shown in me, and I’m ready to get to work— building strong relationships, developing student-athletes, and taking this program to new  heights.”

There’s a new leader at the helm of Saint Francis University women’s basketball, and she’s no stranger to making history. Chynna Bozeman, who joined the Red Flash as an assistant coach last season, has been named head coach as the team gears up for its 58th season in 2025–26.

Bozeman's arrival in Loretto made an immediate impact—she helped lead the team to its most overall wins (11) and most Northeast Conference (NEC) victories (9) since 2020–21. The Red  Flash also hosted their first NEC Tournament game since 2019–20, signaling a momentum shift in the program.

Director of Athletics Jim Brazill sees Bozeman as the perfect leader to harness that momentum.  “Chynna has a vision for the program that I’m confident will lead the Red Flash back to championship basketball,” he said. “She’s committed to creating an environment where our  student-athletes can thrive—both on the court and in the classroom.”

It’s a fitting appointment for a coach who knows a thing or two about success. Before arriving at  Saint Francis, Bozeman served as an assistant at her alma mater, Morehead State, where she helped guide the team to its best record in five years. That return to form was no accident— Bozeman spent over a decade developing players and building winning cultures at the high school, travel club, and collegiate levels.

Her former coach at Morehead State, Michael Bradbury—now the head coach at New Mexico— remembers that competitive edge well. “When I coached her, she competed at a high level and thrived under pressure,” he said. “She was a one-of-a-kind player, and I have no doubt she’ll  bring that same intensity and leadership to her coaching career.”

As a player, Bozeman’s résumé speaks for itself. A two-time Ohio Valley Conference (OVC)  Player of the Year, she is Morehead State’s all-time leading scorer with 2,170 points and still holds program records in steals and three-pointers. Her jersey was retired in 2011 and was inducted into the Morehead State Hall of Fame in 2022.

Her former coach, Todd Hodges—now Director of Analytics for Middle Tennessee State’s women’s basketball program—believes Saint Francis has landed a game-changer. “Chynna was a head coach on the floor as a player,” he said. “Now she brings that same leadership to the sidelines. Saint Francis just leveled up.”

Now, she takes over one of the NEC’s most storied programs, with 12 conference titles and 396  NEC wins. With the Red Flash just four wins away from becoming the first team in league history to hit 400, Bozeman can add her chapter to a rich legacy.

Bozeman’s leadership era has officially begun—and if her past is any indication, big things are on the horizon for Red Flash basketball.
