Biography

Dr. Aspen Mock is an award-winning ELA educator in Western Pennsylvania, with an educational philosophy to provide a creative, collaborative classroom writing community focusing on 21st century skills, service-learning, arts-integration and critical thinking. Dr. Mock is a grand-prize winner of the 2022 Henry Ford Innovative Teacher Award presented by Raytheon Technologies. Some of her certifications include: PBS Media Literacy Educator, K-12 Principal Certificate, National Geographic Certified Educator, Nearpod Certified Educator, Newsela Certified Teacher. She is a KQED Media Literacy Innovator and a KeystonesTechnology Innovator.  She has written & staged several plays for major charitable organizations, for which she won the YWCA Tribute to Women Award and a House of Representatives Citation.  Major educational organizations such as National Geographic Education, KQED Education, PBS and NCTE have published her blog posts.  She is a two-time National Geographic Education grantee, and completed a grant with Johnstown Area Heritage Association & NatGeo Education empowering students to publish a children’s book, The Laurel Highlands Explorers.
