Award winning performer and founding member of the band Rusted Root Jim Donovan Returns to Johnstown to host a very special benefit concert called "Drum and Dance For A Friend" with special guests Kulani Dance Troupe and the Saint Francis University World Drumming Ensemble on Friday November 25, 2011 at 7 PM at the BottleWorks in Johnstown.

The benefit is being held for his friend and fellow drummer, Jaqui MacMillan, who is in need of a potentially life saving operation to remove a very large abdominal tumor and w/ malignant characteristics, possibly ovarian cancer. Unfortunately, she is one of those Americans who can't afford health insurance, nor has she been able to qualify for medical assistance so far since she owns a house and a car. Jaqui is a beautiful soul whose smile lifts everyone she meets. She is also an incredibly gifted teacher and musician who has dedicated her life to sharing joy through the art of drumming with children and adults alike. Jaqui is a student of the late Nigerian master drummer Babatunde Olatunji and was one of the people who tended to Olatunji in his last days. MacMillan needs quite a bit of help financially to get her through her surgery and 8 week recovery (around $25-35K). Though she is continues to apply for aid, she is unsure what, if any of it, will come through. She has not qualified for any of it so far.

The concert promises to be a high energy and fun filled evening of uplifting drumming, dance and song. The show is open to people of all ages and the event is family friendly. There will be a raffle as well as other fundraisers throughout the evening.

Doors open at 7 PM the show begins at 7:30 PM

Tickets will be available at the door for a $10 dollar donation per person.

100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Jaqui MacMillan Surgery Fund.
