Independent Monitoring for Quality and the Social Work Department is sponsoring a Free Mini Conference for Self- Advocates and their Families of the Intellectual Disability Services on Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 1- 4 pm at the JFK Auditorium and Lounge, Saint Francis University Loretto, PA 15940
- Long Term Planning- Estate planning ensures a person has financial resources to meet his/her needs beyond the capacity of guardian or parent . In this training, we cover types oftrusts that meets the needs of a person with a long term disability. We discuss how resources can be arranged to protect an individual's access to his/her rightful government benefits. Presented by The Partnership
- Planning for Life After High School- This training offers guidance to families and self- advocates on how to design a successful transition process from school to adulthood. We focus on employment, recreation activities, friendships,communication, continuing education, transportation, rights, and responsibilities. Presented by The Partnership.
- Caregiver- Coping with Stress- learn fun ways to deal with stress and take care of yourself. Presented by Central PA HCQU (Healthcare Quality Unit)
- Work and Employment with SSI- Kris McNutt has worked for AHEDD for 12 years. He is part of the Work Incentive Planning and Assistance Program. He is here to dispel the myths that surround working with a disability such as I am not allowed to work or I can only work 20 hours a week. He is here to help the individual understand become as self-sufficient as possible by explaining some basic work incentives for those who receive SSDI or SSI. Presented by AHEDD.
