On Thursday, November 7, the Most Reverend Mark L. Bartchak, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown, gave a presentation at Saint Francis titled “Pope Francis: His influence on the Church and the World.”

In his presentation, Bishop Mark reflects upon three themes found within Pope Francis’ first encyclical Lumen Fidei (“Light of Faith”), which was promulgated on June 29, 2013, and how those themes might be understood in regards to the Pope’s influence upon our Church and world during this Year of Faith.

The Year of Faith, which opened on October 11, 2012, and will close on November 24, 2013, was initiated by Pope Francis’ predecessor, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council.
