March 25 Community Update

March 25, 2020 Tags: University News

Dear Members of the Saint Francis University Community:

The purpose of my message today is to remind you about important university information and update you on several important announcements.  My administrative team continues to meet frequently to discuss our ongoing management of campus safety and well-being. I am appreciative of the work that each of you are doing to ensure we forge ahead in delivering the university’s mission.  Collectively, we are a stronger community because of these efforts.

Below are the most recent updates and reminders:

Campus Access

Only designated essential employees are to be physically present on campus and all employees should continue to work remotely.  You must have your supervisor’s permission if you need to come to campus for any reason. When the university moved to a remote working environment, per the March 16 ‘Important Update to All Saint Francis University Employees’, it was done to contribute to larger measures designed for containment as announced by Gov. Tom Wolf.  We are still operating remotely, however, only designated essential employees may be on campus until further notice.

24/7 Help in a Flash

As a reminder, the Information Technology Help in a Flash help desk is the gateway for all faculty, students and staff to access IT resources.  The Help Desk is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is available via email, chat or phone.  A link to Help in a Flash may be found on Please do not contact IT staff directly.  All requests must be made via Help in a Flash.

Share Your Virtual Story

The university has created a repository where we can capture and share the great virtual learning experiences that are occuring.  Please consider sharing your stories by providing photos, videos and examples of unique virtual learning experiences so that we can share them with the broader community.  The link for uploading your stories and experiences may be found at

Saint Francis University Retirement Plan Changes

Saint Francis University has initiated changes to our 403(b) retirement plan in an effort to reduce expenses and redirect funds to sustain payroll for as long as possible.  We have suspended our match for contributing employees according to the schedule below. Employees can still continue to make voluntary contributions. As you can imagine, our climate has dramatically changed in recent weeks and the longevity of this situation is largely unknown.  Saint Francis University is committed to reinstating the match as soon as possible. Effective dates are as follows:

  • Saint Francis operational employees will have their contributions matched through Friday, March 27, 2020 for the pay date of April 3, 2020.

  • Saint Francis administrative staff will have their contributions matched through March 31, 2020 for pay date of March 31, 2020.

CES Credits

Due to the transition to online education in the middle of the semester and the cancellation of community based events, the CES requirement for CORE 103/104 for the Spring 2020 semester only will be reduced to 4 events for completion. Any faculty, administration, and staff who have ideas for or willingness to offer a synchronous or asynchronous CES event should contact Dr. Jessica Cammarata ( A Canvas site will be used to organize all CES events and will be continually updated as new ones are created. Students will also have the option of requesting a continuation to complete CORE 103/104 in Fall 2020.

Mail Services

Mail Services is operating on a modified schedule.  Mail Services, located in Francis Hall, is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 am - 3:30 pm.  Departments have designated individuals to claim and sort mail for their respective departments.
