Business, Education, Engineering and Nursing programs of distinction
Four Saint Francis University fields of study have once again been recognized for their excellent programs by the national Colleges of Distinction organization for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Saint Francis has been listed among the Colleges of Distinction for many years, yet in January 2018 the university was further recognized by this resource for excellent programming in four fields of study: Business, Education, Engineering, and Nursing. Again in 2019, these programs have “Field of Study” badges to recognize their innovative leadership in higher education. Those who have received this honor have proved themselves after a comprehensive vetting for such qualities as accreditation, breadth of program, and track record for success.
Career Development College of Distinction
“What can I do with this major?”
This is perhaps the most commonly asked question by students, and their parents, before pursuing a higher education.
Career Services at Saint Francis excels at meeting students’ career needs through individual sessions, workshops, job fairs and networking events. “Our goal at Career Services is to empower our students and teach them the skills they need for life-long career management,” says Beth McGregor, Associate Director of Career Services. The University also outpaces other institutions by placing students in internships and connecting them with alumni mentors who can further engage them in their career development process. “As a very customer service oriented office, our staff provides a personal touch to our students which we feel enriches their experience as students at Saint Francis.”
“Saint Francis University Career Services is honored to be chosen as a Career Development College of Distinction,” says Beth. “We love working with students and alumni, and are dedicated to helping them succeed by assisting, guiding and encouraging them to discover their life's calling.”
Saint Francis University was selected for the distinction based on the following criteria:
Integrated Career Exploration and Preparation
Saint Francis provides information on various careers, career testing/assessments, and a “What can I do with this major” online resource to help students tailor their schedule so they can start down the right path their first year.
Accessible Programs and Training
Resources in the career office can be accessed 24/7 and by appointment for one-on-one training. Resume and cover letter writing, mock job interviews and a variety of workshops help SFU students gain feedback and job search skills.
Trained career counselors and coaches are available to review every student’s career path. Staff members keep in close contact with alumni and employers to foster corporate partnerships.
