Top investment managers from two leading financial service companies visited Saint Francis University as part of the Shields School of Business Dr. Zanzuccki Endowed Chair in Business Administration Distinguished Speakers' Series lecture event on January 15th.
The event featured Mr. Jeffrey L. Busconi, Managing Director of Global Wealth Management & Investment Management for Bank of America, and Mr. Michael Lyons, Executive VP and head of Corporate & Institutional Banking and Asset Management Group for The PNC Financial Services Group.
In addition to discussing the vast changes that have occurred in the financial services industry and the current market climate for investors, they both referenced the impact that alumnus Terry Laughlin had on their careers and lives.
Terry Laughlin, former Second Vice Chair of Bank of America and a 1977 Accounting alumnus, was an invaluable mentor to them. Mr. Laughlin was scheduled to speak at Saint Francis the day he passed away.
“Few alumni did more than Terry to help us ‘connect’ our top business students to high-profile internships and career opportunities at Bank of America," said Dr. Randy Frye, Dean of Shields School of Business. "While many saw Terry as a ‘Captain of the American Banking Industry’ and valuable mentor and leader, we saw him as a friend, loyal alumnus, and ‘That Someone’ who gave back to Saint Francis University in a powerful way by influencing and shaping lives and careers for students and graduates.”
Since Mr. Laughlin's passing, Bank of America has pledged to continue to work with Saint Francis University in securing internships and jobs for deserving students. The Shields School of Business is thrilled to continue to partnership that Terry started.
