Jim Donovan M.Ed. is an Assistant Professor at Saint Francis University, a professional musician, and now a TEDx presenter. Donovan's mission is to share the healing power of music through education and performance. He specializes in placing music and wellness programs in organizations who focus on people with disabilities and people recovering from addiction. Donovan performs with his band Sun King Warriors and was a founding member of the 3-time platinum band Rusted Root. There he co-wrote the song “Send Me on My Way” featured in the movie Ice Age and became the first song on Mars where it “woke up” NASA’s Mars Rover.

At TEDxYoungstown, Donovan discussed the method called “Brain Tapping,” which helps people feel relaxed by employing a simple, creative repetition sequence using a drumming technique.  Watch the talk:

The goal of the TEDx Youngstown event was to build a movement to amplify ideas that foster hope, spark positivity, and create forward momentum for the Mahoning Valley. TEDx Youngstown brings to light local and international ideas to inspire audience members to try out bold concepts within the community, to enact positive change and ultimately to transform the world!
