More than 30 Communications, Marketing, and Management students from the Shields School of Business traveled to Pittsburgh for a day-long Business Marketplace Excursion.
The day began at PNC Park with alum Joe Arnstein (Management/Psychology '06), Account Executive of Corporate Sponsorships for the Pittsburgh Pirates, discussing marketing, strategic communications, and the behind-the-scenes of corporate sponsorships.
An Alumni Panel Luncheon continued conversations about career development with students. The final stop of the day, MARC USA, focused on a day-in-the-life of a full-service advertising and marketing agency with emphasis on behavioral economics, consumer insight, decision science, and marketing research.
Students were accompanied by faculty members Ms. Angela Balog, Dr. Tricia McFadden, Dr. John Miko, Dr. Kelly Rhodes, and Dr. Pat Farabaugh.
The out-of-classroom educational experience is one of the many Backpack-to-Briefcase Program opportunities afforded to Shields students. Others include Spring Break in London, CSOR fellowships, Enactus team participation, and several business clubs and societies that provide students with travel opportunities and real-world experiences.
