Nursing Graduate Receives Honor From Cleveland Clinic

Shianne Witherow holds her Excellence in Care Certificate given to her by Cleveland Clinic.2017 Saint Francis University nursing graduate Shianne Witherow, BSN, RN received a Certificate of Excellence in Care Award as an Intensive Care Nurse at Cleveland Clinic.

The award was presented by the Clinic to Shianne after she took her dying young adult patient to be with her sister, who was also in the hospital, so that the sisters could be side by side when the patient was taken off life support. The award was for going above and beyond to help the family and the patient meet her end of life needs.

“Shianne exemplifies the Franciscan values of compassion and caring that are the pillars in helping patients with end of life needs. We are very proud of Shianne,” says Dr. Rita Trofino, Associate Dean, School of Health Sciences, and Nursing Department Chair. 

About the Nursing Program
Saint Francis University's nursing program is ranked the number one nursing program in Pennsylvania by RegisteredNursing.org. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program recently became the only program in the state to have 100 percent of its graduates pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) for the past four consecutive years.
