2017 Saint Francis University nursing graduate Shianne
Witherow, BSN, RN received a Certificate of Excellence in Care Award as an
Intensive Care Nurse at Cleveland Clinic.
The award was presented by the Clinic to Shianne
after she took her dying young adult patient to be with her sister, who was
also in the hospital, so that the sisters could be side by side when the
patient was taken off life support. The award was for going above and
beyond to help the family and the patient meet her end of life needs.
“Shianne exemplifies the Franciscan values of
compassion and caring that are the pillars in helping patients with end of life
needs. We are very proud of Shianne,” says Dr. Rita Trofino, Associate Dean,
School of Health Sciences, and Nursing Department Chair.
