Business Students Meet With Successful Alumni

Shields School of Business students had the opportunity to speak with successful alums and gain insight into the accounting industry.

John Kiely and Denise Marbach, both of  Price Waterhouse Cooper, were hosted by the Dr. Albert A. Zanzuccki Endowed Chair in Business Executive-in-Residence series. The lecture series  invites successful alumni and business professionals from the region to engage in one or more days of dialogue and discussion with business students. 

John Kiely graduated from Saint Francis University in 1980 with a major in Accounting, and was one foreign language course shy of a dual major in mathematics. John joined the Price Waterhouse Philadelphia office audit practice in September of 1980. He became an audit partner in 1991, and will retire in 2019.

His primary clients include major Private Equity firms such as The Carlyle Group and Bain Capital Group. He has been lead partner on many large multinational public companies, including Bristol Myers, Merck, and Rohm and Haas. He is currently the lead partner on E.I. DuPont, and has been working for the last few years on the recent merger of Dow and DuPont.

John and his wife live outside of Philadelphia, and have 3 children. One of his children is a 3rd year associate at PwC.

Denise Marbach received a B.A. in Accounting from Saint Francis University in 1976.

Lecture Series3In 2010, Denise was asked to relocate to Atlanta, Georgia to lead the PwC health care assurance practice in the southeastern United States and to start a new health care practice in Atlanta. In July 2017, Denise became the President of Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School and will is the first lay leader in the school’s 155 year history.


She retired from PwC in June 2015 as an Assurance partner. She spent 40  years working primarily in the insurance and healthcare industries.

She currently resides in Lower Gwynedd, Pennsylvania with her husband. She is a frequent speaker at industry, executive women’s and accounting forums, and in her free time enjoys being an avid collegiate basketball fan.
