Beginning Fall 2017, the Saint Francis University, Graduate Education Program will be offering a new PA certification program: English as a Second Language (ESL) Program Specialist Certificate.

The ESL Program Specialist Certificate is designed for candidates with an Instructional I certificate who are interested in completing a competency-based sequence of courses at a post baccalaureate level. This certificate provides an additional skill-level of specific training and experiences for professionals who will provide educational services for the population English language learners who are acquiring English as a second language. Upon completion it enables professional educators holding this certificate to address the complex needs of English language learners in various classrooms and schools in the K-12 settings.

The ESL program is a 16 credit program and can be completed in four semesters. Sixty hours of clinical observation are integrated throughout the program. Upon successful completion of the program, students will apply for the PA English as a Second Language Program Specialist Certificate through TIMS.

Applications are being accepted for the fall 2017. For more information on this program offering, please contact the Graduate Education Office at (814) 472-3058, stoth@francis.edu or visit francis.edu/master-of-education.
