Elementary school educators in The Roman Catholic Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown have a new funding opportunity to thanks to the Saint Francis University Chemistry Club.

Through the DONUTS (Donating to Underfunded Teachers of Science) Grant program, teachers may apply for a grant of up to $250 to promote physical science education in the classroom with a preference given to projects that are related to chemistry.

The SFU Chemistry Club raised funds for the DONUTS program by selling Krispy Kreme donuts during the fall semester. Teachers employed by a Catholic school within the Diocese recently received notice of the application process. The first grants will be awarded in February 2017.
