Own a piece of Saint Francis University history and support scholarships for Saint Francis students!
The John F. Kennedy Student Center is undergoing an exciting renovation, part of which includes the removal of the old mailbox doors, and we want you to have them! The Saint Francis mailbox doors belong with the people who have used them throughout the years.
Each mailbox has seen decades of students pass through the JFK Student Center, and many alumni are interested in the same boxes. So that every alumnus, student, or friend of the University has the opportunity to purchase “their” box, we are holding a month-long auction throughout the month of August for all mailbox doors.
On Thursday, August 1st, 2019, the auction form will go live—everyone will have the opportunity to bid on their desired mailbox doors. Bids will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on August 31st. The Office of Alumni Engagement will periodically release updates throughout the entire month of August to all participants so that everyone will know where they currently stand in the auction.
100% of the money raised from this auction will go to the Saint Francis University Alumni Association Scholarship. This fund benefits two students each year who are children or grandchildren of Saint Francis alumni. All winning bids will count as gifts toward the University.

All proceeds from this auction go directly to the Saint Francis University Alumni Association Scholarship Fund.
No. All bids are for the mailbox door only. All winning bidders will have the option to upgrade their doors into coin banks for an additional $50. All winners will have the opportunity to upgrade after the auction has closed on August 31.
No. All bids are anonymous.
Unfortunately, the University does not have records of whom had what mailboxes throughout the years. We will not be able to look up this information for you.
On the auction form where you select which mailbox number you want, the first option is “I am fine with any mailbox number.” Select that option and you will be randomly assigned a mailbox that did not receive any bids. You will still need to pay the minimum $50 bid.
You may submit as many bids as you would like for as many mailboxes as you like at any time right up to 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, August 31. Once you submit a bid, the subsequent confirmation screen will include a link to submit an additional bid.
Yes. We have the codes for each and every mailbox. The correct code will be shipped with each mailbox door.
The overall condition of the mailbox doors is good. They are in one piece, and those tested still have operational locks on the doors. However, they do show years of wear. All mailbox doors are shipped as is—the University will not refurbish or professionally clean any of the mailbox doors.
The University will keep several mailbox doors for posterity, and others are unfortunately missing or have simply fallen apart. We apologize if your desired door is not on the list of those available. Unavailable mailbox doors are: 1336, 1847, 1966, 2128, and 2171.
Should there be a tie for a mailbox door at the final bid, those who are tied will be notified and have the opportunity to submit a final bid. This process will continue between the parties until the tie is broken and there is single highest bidder.
Anyone can place bids for mailbox doors: alumni, current students, family members, friends of the University, and so on.
All winners will have the opportunity to decline purchasing any mailbox doors they won. The offer will then be extended to the individual with the second highest bid.
