Rising star Cecelia MacDonald, a freshman English major, was awarded first place in the short fiction category of the Delta Epsilon Sigma national writing contest.
Delta Epsilon Sigma is a national Catholic honor society, the most prestigious at the university level. Each university in the country is allowed to submit one work in one of the four categories considered. MacDonald’s short story “Nosebleeds” won first place in its category.
MacDonald is a native of Altoona, PA. In her short time on campus she has embraced college life, becoming president of the class of 2016 and a student in the honors program. She is senator of the Student Government (SGA) and is on the executive board for the university’s student activities organization (SAO), where she serves as vice president of public relations. She is also involved in emerging leaders, the literary guild, awards committee, curriculum committee and marketing and promotions for SAO.
