The Dorothy Day Outreach Center at Saint Francis University has many initiatives geared toward children, the elderly, veterans, the poor, and people with special needs. With the assistance of agencies and volunteers, the DDOC has helped more than 1,500 families in need.
Volunteers help sort, organize, stock, and distribute food pantry items for Thanksgiving to area residents and also assist with the Christmas and Easter distributions.
Donated clothes are available to those who need and ask for them. Individuals obtain clothing for a small donation - $1.00 per bag.

The Dorothy Day Outreach Center holds an annual tag sale to benefit the Center's Emergency Financial Assistance program.
Students visit John Paul II manor in Cresson on a bimonthly basis. Each student is assigned a resident or couple and spends one hour talking with that particular person/s. Group events may be scheduled as time permits.
Members of the Saint Francis University community prepare and serve a free Thanksgiving dinner each year for residents of the local nursing homes, senior centers and senior community members. Donations for the dinner are collected from faculty, staff, and students. If you'd like to assist our efforts, please fill out the Thanksgiving Donation/Volunteer Form.

Angels bearing the name of a needy child in the community are placed on a tree in Scouts Hall which SFU community members, faculty, staff, and students take and purchase toys, clothes, and other items.
Each year through the generosity of the Saint Francis University community and various Churches and organizations, the D.D.O.C. is able to make and distribute food baskets for a number of needy families in the area.
