First Destinations Report: the first year after graduation for the class of 2016
Never let the past determine your future, unless you’re Madeline Berry. Madeline graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree in History, and is currently an AmeriCorps Environmental Steward with the Cambria County Conservation District. Her history background allows her to cultivate an awareness of current environmental problems and their connection to the past, which provides her with a unique perspective on climate issues. Creating video games reminiscent of Space Invaders in his high school computer programming class piqued Dillon’s interest in Computer Science. That interest (and a double major in Computer Science/Applied Mathematics) eventually landed him a position as a Software Developer with New Pig Corporation. Based out of Tipton, PA, New Pig helps businesses manage leaks, drips and spills to create clean and safe environments with their products being used in over 300,000 facilities worldwide. From the island of Haiti to the pines of Saint Francis University, it has been a long, but fortuitous journey for Wadler Fleurina, MPAS, PA-C, MB (ASCP). Growing up in an orphanage in Haiti, Wadler knew he wanted to work in the medical field. Fate (and an internet search) led him to Saint Francis to realize that dream. After his graduation in May, he started practicing occupational medicine and urgent care in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He is currently expanding his medical knowledge to family and internal medicine. Danielle blended her love of anatomy and art during her time at Saint Francis University, creating large scale oil paintings for the School of Health Sciences. After graduating with her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree she began working at the HealthSouth Rehab Hospital in Lancaster. There she found the perfect patient population to build her skills as a new PT, while gaining exposure to more complex cases. She has also created her own little version of the SFU “Boiler House” Fine Arts studio in her apartment. Read more about Danielle MacMurtrie.
A standout soccer player from Mexico City, Mexico, Pablo made the long journey to SFU with the goal of playing for a Division 1 team. But his athletic successes soon followed him off the field and onto a path he’d never expected. Pablo graduated a decorated triple major in Finance, Accounting, and Management Information Systems with multiple honors. His SFU accomplishments led him to New York City, where he accepted an Investment Banking Analyst position at Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Global Technology, Media & Telecom Group. Pablo’s goals may have changed since his first days at SFU, but his drive for success remains. Read more about Pablo Medina.
