Students with Disabilities

What is OVR: Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) is the Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, a State Agency that provides services to help persons with disabilities prepare for, start, and maintain employment. The Vocational Rehabilitation program now operates under the authority of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1992 and the Pennsylvania Vocational Rehabilitation Act.

OVR’s Priorities: OVR’s first priority is to help people with the most severe disabilities obtain or retain competitive employment. OVR aids Saint Francis University students in obtaining an education to prepare them for entry into the job market upon graduation.

Eligibility: To be considered eligible to receive VR benefits, an individual must have a physical or mental impairment that results in an impediment to employment. The individual must also require the services of OVR pursuant to obtaining gainful employment.

Contact OVR: OVR is a state agency. Therefore, requirements can vary from state to state. Pennsylvania residents can contact PA’s OVR by dialing: 1-800-442-6343. Out of state students please refer to the “Blue Pages” of your local phonebook for numbers.

PA residents can visit OVR on the web at: http://www.nepacil.org/OVR.htm.
