New honors program students at Saint Francis University represent seven states and 13 academic majors

Fleming, Austin Fowler, Anthony Bellmore, Aaron Hixson, Drew Greenwald Saint Francis University announced the selection of the 35 incoming students whose scholarly achievement qualified them for participation in the honors program class of 2013, which started classes Aug. 24.
To qualify, students must have been in the first quintile of their high school graduating class, had a minimum GPA of 3.25 or 90%+ average, achieved SAT scores of 1150 or above, had strong recommendations from high school teachers and guidance counselors, and had a successful interview with the honors director.
This year’s class had an SAT Verbal average of 628 and an SAT Verbal average of 607. Four had SAT scores of more than 1400 and 13 had scores of more than 1300.
Academic majors selected by the honors student are: biology, chemistry, education, English, environmental engineering, exercise physiology, history, international business, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistant science, political science and social work. The majors range across the university’s four schools: Arts & Letters, Business, Health Sciences, and Sciences.
Ten will be athletes on one of the Saint Francis Red Flash NCAA Division I athletic teams.
The new honors students come from Connecticut, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
