Mission and Goals
The mission of the caring curriculum is to prepare professional nurses who posses a life-giving mode of being derived from "The Prayer of Saint Francis" in order to maximize wellness in individuals, families and community.
The purposes of this curriculum are to:
1. Provide a program of academic excellence which emphasizes critical inquiry and nurtures professional caring attributes.
2. Foster life-long learning and stimulate personal and professional growth.
3. Provide educational opportunities to develop the caring attributes in preparation for nursing practice.
4. Provide an educational program whereby care is given using a spirit-mind-body perspective within the scope of the ANA Standards of clinical nursing practice (Standards of Care and Standards of Professional Practice, 2004).
5. Increase the number of nurses prepared at the baccalaureate level that are educated within a caring paradigm.
6. Prepare the graduate for ethical leadership and management roles including developing health policy in order to promote caring environments in the ever changing healthcare system and community.
7. Provide a foundation for graduate study.
