Master of Physician Assistant Sciences Program

The Armed Forces Physician Assistant program is not yet accredited. The accreditation site visit has been scheduled for December 2009 with notification of accreditation status occurring in March 2010. Graduation from an accredited program is an eligibility requirement for the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination and for state licensure. AFPAP will begin accepting applications January 1, 2010 for the first student cohort to begin the program in August 2010. Should the program not receive accreditation, applicants will be notified and the program will delay student enrollment until accreditation status is received.

Welcome to the Armed Forces Physician Assistant Program (AFPAP) website.

The AFPAP is a distance learning program designed for military health personnel in preparation for post military careers. The goal of this program is to provide an accessible academic program to bridge the gap in the transition from military to civilian practice.

The AFPAP is a 60 credit, part-time distance learning program spanning 24 months of didactic instruction and 12 months of clinical experience training. The distance based design of this program allows students to remain within their military/civilian communities while sustaining current positions.

Upon completion of the program requirements, students will receive a Master of Physician Assistant Science (MPAS) degree and be eligible to complete the Physician Assistant National Certification Examination (PANCE).

Content will be delivered through a robust technological infrastructure utilizing a variety of synchronous and asynchronous applications. Virtual classroom software and content management systems will provide the foundation for content delivery and objective assessment.
