LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 25, 2006) – Sophomore Kristin Buter (Bowie, Md. / Bowie) had a game-high 18.5 points behind 18 kills and one block to help lead the Saint Francis women’s volleyball team to its four straight victory, 3-1, over Morgan State at DeGol Arena.
The Red Flash improved to 15-12 overall with the 30-25, 30-28, 22-30, 30-28 non-conference victory. They will return to the floor with their 3-0 Northeast Conference record on the line against Saint Francis-NY, at 5 p.m. on Saturday, at DeGol Arena. One more win in the final five matches would match the most wins under sixth-year head coach Scott Gleason. He led Saint Francis to a 16-19 overall mark in 2002. The program record for wins in a season is 18 (18-14), set in 1999.
Senior Anne Roosevelt (Plymouth, Mich. / Mercy) added 12 kills, two service aces and 25 digs in the match. She became the first player in school history to 200 career service aces – rally scoring era, or serve and volley era.
Sophomore Kayla Greenwalt (Colorado Springs, Colo. / Widefield) tied the school’s career rally scoring era blocks record with five in the match. She now has 185 blocks in less than two years, equaling the career total set by Kim Duke (2002-04). Her 122 blocks this season are already a single-season school record. Greenwalt was one of four double-digit scoring players for the Red Flash against Morgan State. She finished with 10 kills behind .318 hitting, to go along with two digs and her five blocks.
Junior Jamie Papini (Somerset, Pa. / Somerset) scored 12 points for Saint Francis with nine kills, six assists, 30 digs and two blocks. Her 30 digs are tied for third-most for a single-match in program history, three shy of the school record.
Sophomore Missi Vaughn (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona) had 33 assists and two service aces, and sophomore Keshia Gibbs (Dumfries, Va. / Forest Park) pitched in with eight kills and two digs.
