FAIRFIELD, Conn. (Oct. 14, 2006) – Anne Roosevelt, Kayla Greenwalt, and Kristin Buter each fired double-digits kills as the Saint Francis University women’s volleyball team bested Sacred Heart 3-1 to open Northeast Conference play on Saturday.
Roosevelt (Plymouth, MI / Mercy) accounted for a match-high 17 kills as the Red Flash evened their record at 12-12, and sending the Pioneers to their 17th defeat of the season. With the win Saint Francis has already equaled their win total from a season ago.
Greenwalt (Colorado Springs, Colo./Widefield) and Buter (Bowie, MD / Bowie) accounted for 15 and 10 kills, respectively, adding to the strong offensive night for the Flash.
Saint Francis won the first and second games of the match 30-28 and 30-18 before dropping the third game by a 30-26 mark. The Flash made sure that the fourth game would be the last by dominating SHU 30-12 to clinch the win.
Defensive leaders for the Red Flash were Roosevelt with 14 digs and Angela Shotter (Uniontown, PA / Laurel Highlands), who came up with 10 digs.
The Flash return to action tomorrow (Oct. 15, 2006) when they visit Fairleigh Dickinson.
