PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (Sept. 29, 2006) – Sophomore outside hitter Kristin Buter (Bowie, Md.) had 20 kills and her teammates blocked 14 shots sparking the Saint Francis women’s volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over tournament-host Maryland-Eastern Shore Friday night during the Comfort Inn Classic.
The Red Flash defeated the Hawks 30-26, 30-23, 25-30 in the afternoon, following a 3-0 win over Providence in the morning. Saint Francis, which beat the Friars 30-23, 30-26, 32-30, upped its record to 9-10 on the season with the two wins. The Red Flash will play Howard at 3 p.m., and Delaware State at 5 p.m., on Saturday.
Buter had 20 kills in the win over UMES, while senior Anne Roosevelt (Plymouth, Mich. / Mercy) had 17 kills and 12 digs, and sophomore Lauren Parisi (East Amherst, N.Y. / Williamsville North) added 15 digs.
In the win over Providence, Roosevelt belted 16 kills and 11 digs, while Buter pitched in with 16 kills.
