Youngstown State 3, Saint Francis 1; Bowling Green 3, Saint Francis 0
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (Sept. 16, 2006) – The second day of the Youngstown State University / Country Inn & Suites Classic wasn’t nearly as sweet as the first was for the Saint Francis Women’s Volleyball team.
Just 24 hours after beating long-time rival Duquesne for the first time in program history and a career-best performance by Anne Roosevelt, the Flash fell to host Youngstown State 3-1. Despite the reversal in fortunes for the team, some things remained constant – like the solid match turned in by Roosevelt.
A day after flirting with the SFU record for kills in a match, Roosevelt compiled another 19 against YSU, a match best. She also led both teams with 22 digs.
Linda Dolansky had a solid match, notching nine kills and 12 digs. Keshia Gibbs and Kristin Buter helped out with 11 kills apiece.
Bowling Green State University swept Saint Francis 3-0 in the Flash’s final game of the tournament.
Keshia Gibbs led the Red Flash with nine kills, and Lauren Parisi registered a team-high 13 digs. Anne Roosevelt compiled eight kills and 11 digs.
With the loss Saint Francis fell to a combined 1-3 in the tournament and 6-8 on the season.
