LORETTO, Pa. (Nov. 7, 2006) – Saint Francis senior outside hitter Anne Roosevelt (Plymouth, Mich. / Mercy) earned her second Northeast Conference Women’s Volleyball Player-of-the-Week award of the season, the NEC announced on Monday afternoon.

Roosevelt, who is a two-time All-Northeast Conference Second Team selection, picked up her second career player-of-the-week accolade after averaging 4.0 kills, 4.9 digs and 1.1 service aces last week in big conference wins over Quinnipiac (3-0) and Central Connecticut State (3-2).

Roosevelt has led the Red Flash to a school record-tying 18 wins this season, with two regular season matches, plus the Northeast Conference Tournament approaching. Saint Francis is 11-2 in its last 13 matches, and is currently on a seven-match winning streak heading into a Saturday showdown with co-first place opponent Long Island.

On the week, Roosevelt tallied 32 kills, 39 digs, nine aces and two blocks in helping the Red Flash remain undefeated in league play and tied for first in the NEC standings. In the win over the Bobcats, she hit .300 with 14 kills, 15 digs, two aces and one block. Against the Blue Devils, Roosevelt had match-highs of 24 digs and seven service aces to go along with 18 kills, three assists and one block.

With 425 digs and 437 kills this season, the senior outside hitter now holds Red Flash records for digs and kills in a single season, and also broke the all-time kills mark with 1,346 kills. For the season, Roosevelt ranks second among league leaders in kills (4.01 kpg), service aces (0.55 sapg) and points (4.70 ppg) and third in digs (3.90 dpg).

Roosevelt will lead Saint Francis into Saturday’s 11 a.m. showdown with Long Island. The winner of the match will play host to the Northeast Conference Tournament, which will be played Nov. 18-19. The Red Flash will close out their regular season on Sunday with an conference match at Wagner.
