LORETTO, Pa. (Oct. 21, 2006) – Senior Anne Roosevelt (Plymouth, Mich. / Mercy) had a game-high 20 kills to go along with four service aces, 22 digs and one block, helping the Saint Francis women’s volleyball team snap a 19-match losing streak against in-state rival Robert Morris, in a 3-1 victory on Saturday afternoon at DeGol Arena.
The Red Flash improved to 14-12 overall, and 3-0 in the Northeast Conference with their third straight win. They have won seven of their last nine matches, and are 3-0 in conference play for the first time since 2003. Saint Francis will play host to Morgan State in a non-conference match, beginning at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night.
The Red Flash had lost 19 consecutive matches against the Colonials, dating back to Oct. 2, 1999.
Sophomores Kristin Buter (Bowie, Md. / Bowie) and Keshia Gibbs (Dumfries, Va. / Forest Park) also had double-figure kills with 14 and 12, respectively. Buter also had three aces, 11 digs and three blocks, while Gibbs had one dig and six blocks.
Sophomore Missi Vaughn (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona) and freshman Rikki Myers (Noblesville, Ind. / Westfield) pitched in with 30 and 24 assists, respectively.
