Functions of the S.G.A.

Promotes Student Issues: SGA is the voice of the student body. As such, the Senate is highly influential in the development of University policy. Senators discuss issues and present proposals to administrators, faculty, and staff, contributing to the betterment of the campus community.
Funds Student Organizations: Many student organizations are funded by SGA. To receive allocation, clubs must complete and return budget requests in the spring. Organizations are funded based on the quality and extent of the programs they sponsored during the academic year.

Annual Leadership Conference: Each fall, SGA sponsors a leadership conference to encourage student involvement and to develop leadership skills. The event features a keynote address and informational breakout sessions that examine a wide range of issues facing student leaders. The conference is open to all students and door prizes are awarded to several lucky participants.
Donut Heaven: SGA co-sponsors this study break during the finals week each semester. From 10:00 to 11:30 p.m. for the first three days of finals, faculty and staff serve students snacks including donuts, hot dogs, and ice cream.
Town Hall Meeting: S.G.A brings University administrators, including the President, Dean of Students of Life, and other before students in an effort to encourage open discussion between the groups and allow important matters to be openly discussed.
